TRIAL VERDICT: $7,800,000 - AUTOMOBILE ACCIDENT

LOHAR V. CITY OF NEW YORK - SUPREME COURT, KINGS COUNTY

$7.8M Verdict for lost wages, medical expenses, pain and suffering for 35 year-old Brooklyn woman who was a passenger in a car that was struck in the rear by a van owned by the City of New York. The woman suffered the loss of her spleen, severe abdominal scarring and serious injuries to her neck and back which prevented her from working in her career as a nurse’s aide.

TRIAL VERDICT: $5,500,000 - POLICE MISCONDUCT

ROSARIO v. UNION CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT - US DISTRICT COURT, NEW JERSEY

$5.5M Verdict for false arrest, conscious pain and suffering and wrongful death for the family of a 63 year-old Union City, New Jersey man who died in police custody. The jury found that the police officers had no probable cause to arrest the man in his own home, and that the police officers were negligent in failing to provide adequate medical attention when he suffered a severe asthma attack while in police custody. Sadly, the man died in the street outside his home.

STRUCTURED SETTLEMENT: $8,600,000 - PRODUCTS LIABILITY

The case was settled after we obtained summary judgement in his favor pursuant to the New York State Labor Law Section 240 which protects workers from height-related risks at construction sites.

OLENDER v. MALDONADO - SUPREME COURT, KINGS COUNTY

Case involving plaintiff Jane Doe who was struck on the driver’s side of her vehicle by the front of a truck. Plaintiff sustained two disc herniations and was treated for three months after the accident.

SETTLEMENT: $600,000 - PREMISES LIABILITY

Settlement following liability jury verdict in a hotly disputed liability case where our client was injured while working at a store. The tenant who operated the store was her employer. Whereas an employee is prohibited by law from suing the employer, we sued the landlord. The landlord denied any liability and argued that he was an absentee landlord who had nothing to do with the store.
